Kiran Bedi was born into a Peshawar based migrated Punjabi business family on June 9, 1949 in Amritsar, Punjab, India.
Her father was Mr. Prakash Lal Peshawaria and mother was Mrs. Prem Lata. She has three siblings named as Shashi, Reeta, and Anu. She was 2nd child among the four child of her parents.
Her great-great-grandfather Lala Hargobind was a businessman who had setup the texile business in Amritsar after migration from Peshawar to Amritsar.
